My law would be this: For ONE MONTH ONLY, every natural USA citizen would be able to stop anyone on the street and ask to see proof of citizenship, if none can be provided, that person is allowed to be shot on the spot. And all illegals crossing the border would be allowed to be shot from now on with no restrictions.

I would pass a law allowing for illegals already here to eventually obtain legal status. It wouldn't be automatic and there would be certain prerequisites that needed to be met first such as a criminal background check, paying a fine and back taxes. Part of the penalty for being here illegally would be that they could never become a citizen, just a permanent resident. If they want to be a citizen they would have to leave the country and petition to return. I would make the effective date of the law retroactive in order to discourage last minute illegals from coming in to take advantage of the new regulation.

One "orderly" "fair" way to apply for citizenship. Anyone who does not use it---is never allowed to stay or come again.
