Anyone who is born in the country of England is an English person. As long as the country exists there will be English people.

"English" is named for the Angles, a Germanic Tribe that went through the German lowlands and crossed over the Channel along with the Saxons. They essentially filled the void left by the collapse of the Roman presence in England. Angles mostly settled the midlands and east coast; Saxons went primarily to the south. Then the Danes showed up on the east coast, and the Normans later flooded everywhere.

I really doubt there are any pure Angles left...

Short answer is: No, probably not if you're talking genetics.
Definitely yes, if you are talking culture.

Yes, people who have a claim by blood or by soil, and who choose to identify as English, are English...regardless of whethere or not they 'of been vaded', whatever that means.

Nationality is largely a state of mind.

There was until Blair abolished it along with the Englishman. He devolved Scotland and Wles and wants to do so to Ireland, the reason, we can't have a African or Asian Englishman or Scot or Welshman but you can have an African or Asian Briton, see what I mean. This is why we are now refered to as Britons, but I am a white Englishman and proud of it. I am only a Briton when the talk is of Great Britain as a whole.

For a start it viking not Vikings OK! yes there are true English people but they don't use the term anymore since the UK is a multi-culture society now. The term was drop not to offend migrants who now live in the UK mostly people who come from commonwealth countries. Remember the roman invaded France and others places.

Every country is made up of immigrants - depending how far you go back................Unless, Maybe, if you are Kenyan, and can trace your Ancestry directly back to 'Lucy'.

I am English....I was born in England of English parents. If I go back far enough I have a little welsh and a little Scottish ancestry....
So, am I *really* English?
