That depends on your temperature. People who drown in cold water or go into cardiac arrest because of hypotherimia can be resuscitated after remarkably long periods (up to an hour).
In the ER "You aren't dead until you are warm and dead."
Another note: the important time (4-5 minutes) is the interval between the heart stopping and when CPR is started. As long as you keep the blood oxygenated and moving... you still have a chance much later when EMTs arrive, or you arrive at a hospital that can intervene with more advanced methods.

I have got a feeling that someone once got hypothermia and was resuscitated a few hours after the heart stopped. I think it was a boy who wandered outside in the cold and his family didn't find him for ages. That is only a memory of a news item I have though.

It is true that hypothermia can increase survival time, in some cases to hours. Outside of that 4 - 5 minutes, probably with brain damage before that.

everybodys answer re hypothermia is correct, otherwise it varies, it is suggested after 5 minutes, the most important organ that needs preserving is the brain and someone can still survive after prolonged cpr but sustain brain damage. i have witnessed someone having cpr for about half an hour and be given an anti clotting drug (to treat heart attack) and survive without brain damage.

i believe it is about 5 minutes before all body functions stop. then even if by a mericle doctors bring you back to life after 5 minutes, you will probably have no knowledge of anything and be just like a small infant again.

about 3 mins. After that the brain begins to die. You can survive much longer if you are hypothermic, as all the body functions slow down
