I have bought and sold my cars on ebay. One thing I suggest is besides a Carfax -- is that you find a dealership near to where the car is being sold and pay for an inspection.

Good luck. I've not had any problems doing it this way - buying, I found the dealerships very honest. In selling, I was happy to bring my car to a dealership to give the guy a full report - and he recently wrote me from the other end of the US that the car arrives and he loves it.

Buy from somebody with lots of Feedback and has been an Ebayer for a long time....I learned the hard way and shouldn't have been surprised when the guy dissappeared within a month of our deal ending. Sellers who have a reputation to maintain and a history on Ebay are more likely to stick around and ensure you are happy before and after the sale! A seller with 6 months on Ebay and less than 100 feedback entries is probably a fly by night operation (as mine was) where they set up, sell a bunch of crappy cars in a hurry, and bail out, abandoning the username on Ebay and their bogus phone numbers and addresses.

I've bought and sold on Ebay for 4 years without a problem, but I would NEVER attempt to buy a car off Ebay.

definately get carfax....if possible go to see and test drive. I bought one off eBay and had a great experience and am still driving a car i got for a great price. But honestly, it's a crap shoot. Think about if you sold a car you owned on there. Just honestly think of the small things you might choose to overlook on the description. But again, in my case, i lucked out.

You have as many chances to get scr.... than if you'd buy it from a dealership. It's a bet. Personally I wouldn't unless you can have a look at it beforehand.
