these people are such liars. all of the christians who said that they're NOT afraid to die just aren't thinking it through honestly.

the people who said "not everyone goes to heaven" completely missed the point, and the people who compared it to going to the dentist or getting a shot can't be really all that excited about it.

also,, fear is only one indication that most people are lying to themselves. the pain felt from a lost loved one is another indication. if someone truly believes that their loved one has gone to heaven, they're gonna be happy. they might cry a little,, like how a mother cries when her child leaves for college,, but they would never cry all of the tears of pain that they do.

it's obvious that these people have more doubt than faith.

I believe heaven was described and agreed upon unitary by all religions. The confusion arises what is in the middle of our physical existence and heaven. This is where teachings vary. Some say to go to heaven one, through Jesus, others say no intermediary. Furthermore, some would also claim its all in the mind.

In the middle of our physical existence and heaven is where largely we centered our fear. Nothing is concrete and fraught with choices to which path is true. It is largely an unknown area. You might be thinking what if this path I've chosen lead me to hell instead? Worst no one has come back from the dead to confirm us which path is true.

We are afraid to die because, in summary, we are not sure what's the right way to go there. It's like placing a bet to a chosen religion and only thru death you'll know if you place the right bet or not( and there's no turning back).

My dad got lukemia and is now the most religious person on earth. He spends 100's of thousands of dollars just to get a few more years away from his most precious god. It makes no damned sense, god is calling him home and he is breaking the bank to get the doctors to keep him out of heaven just a few more months. Seems to me like someone is not too sure there is anything there. Preachers have the best Health Plans. I think people want to believe there is some sort of paradise waiting for them, but they all yank the wheel when they think they are going to be in an accident. They all pay thousands to stay alive. They all pay and pay just to keep their little angel out of gods arms another week. It's the most disingenuous **** I have ever seen. They all know it's oblivion, or they wouldn't treat death the way they do.

I'm affraid to die because, even though I know heaven will be so much better than what I have now, I'm still sad at the idea that I will be leaving so many people I love behind, along with any physical pain my death might entail....but it's funny because if my death was a type of martyr incident, if I was dying for the name of Jesus, I would be happy to die...isn't that weird?

For one thing, not everyone is going to heaven when they die. I know that I am going there so I am not afraid of dying.

Its not the idea of dying that is truely scary. But by what method should a persons end occurred and at what pain level. What gore was experienced upon expiration. Chills my bones thinking Ill be smushed like a bug by a train or transport. In fact, the idea makes me want to kill myself.

Most true Christian have no fear of death, but only of the process of dying. No one likes to go through pain. As a Christian I still hate going to the dentist. Another reason I have found people fear death is because they accumulate so many "things" on this earth they just don't want to let go. Jesus warned His disciples, "Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth... but lay up treasures in heaven for where your treasure is there will your heart be also."

Because there is no proof there is actually a heaven (not everyone in the world is a Christian), for all people know they could be stuck in a coffin for the rest of eternity, turn into a ghost, or be reincarnated into a worse life than they already have now.

I am not sure what I believe about heaven. I am not scared of death. I know when my time comes, there will be nothing I can do about it.

Living creatures have an inborn instinct to survive until they have accomplished their purpose in life. But people don't know what their purpose is. Some insects die after matng and salmon die after mating so I guess their mating instinct is stronger than their survival instincts.
