1. Jesus says, "But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female." (Mark 10:6)
Here, Jesus gives his support of the creation account in Genesis 1:1, 27. Note he says "from the beginning of creation", not after hundreds of millions of years of asexual reproduction that then somehow lead to sexual reproduction, and then a few more billion years before man 'evolved'. It appears Jesus was referring to Genesis 1:1, 27 with the concepts of "from the beginning of creation" (verse 1) and "male and female" (verse 27). See also Matt. 19:4.
While the issue he was addressing was divorce in those passages, his Words also support both the Genesis one creation account, as well as confirming one of the greatest weaknesses of any type of naturalistic evolutionary belief...the impossibility of the naturalistic evolving of sexual reproduction.
2. Could the God you know of through the Words of Jesus have created all things in six days or less? Did God need to work through existing physical processes in order to increase order, or could he have created complex matter instantaneously? If the reader disfavors His creating matter from nothing, then the reader should also discount Jesus' feeding of the thousands with a few fish and loaves of bread. While this argument certainly does not prove that God in fact did create all the time-space-matter universe in six days, it does support his being able to do so if he choose.
3. If you hand Genesis chapter one to a child to read, how long will they say it took God to create the heavens and the earth and all that is in the earth?
Doesn't Jesus say, "...Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven." (Matthew 18:3) Is this attitude really restricted to 'salvation' or 'spiritual' matters only? Don't confuse current verifiable physical matters with speculation about past events.
4. Those "scientists" who reject Jesus and who deny the existence of God, dogmatically and almost unanimously defend naturalistic evolution.
Jesus says, "And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:19)
5. Many "scientists" who acknowledge God exists have more verifiable facts (true, present empirical science) against evolution than evolutionists have in support of evolution. In like manner, many "scientists" who acknowledge God exists have more verifiable facts for a younger earth than evolutionists have facts to support an old earth.
6. Anyone who believes naturalistic biological evolution is poorly read regarding the present scientific arguments and evidence of the creationist scientists and intelligent design thinkers. It is simply a fact that naturalistic evolution - defined as no intervention from an intelligent Designer - could not have taken place. Those who tend to believe in naturalistic evolution are placing too much weight on contemporary philosophers and too little weight on Jesus Words and much physical evidence that supports a more recent creation.
7. Other views of evolution (non-naturalistic) are reasonable and could be held by followers of Jesus...views such as God using an evolution-type process (direct intervention) to create man - sometimes called progressive creation; gap theories about the Genesis chapter 1 account to account for an old earth, should a person believe the evidence for an old earth, etc.
Conclusion: Let's base our faith on Jesus' Words first. If a person believes that Jesus doesn't conclusively address the matter, then we should be flexible. The followers of Jesus should not divide or fight over this issue, for it is not of primary importance. We can follow Jesus and obey him together without unity on this issue, except to acknowledge that the Most High God is the Creator and that he was active in creation.
