Complete you Bachelors degree, then seek some assitance/mentoring and recommendations of officers/suppervisors in your unit. Being highly active and supportive of organizations and programs wil get the attention of your leadership.
You need to know about the first year you are in, you wil be busy being trained and learning your first job. Then you wil be able to begin your education pursuits. Good Luck!
Also, the only dumb question is the one that is not asked, so dont be afraid to ask questions.

I'm not sure how it works in the Air Force, but I know that in the Army there are two ways to get in.
1. You become a regular foot soldier. Soldiers do have ranks, but the highest they can progress is Seargent 1st class.
2. You join the Officer's Academy. This would be a far more rigorus, longer course of study and is generally treated like a college (meaning you can't just drop out of school and join up at an officer's academy) You would come out as a Leuteniant (or whatever the Air Force's lowest officer rank is)
If you join as a grunt and do excel to the point that you are at the top of the enlisted men, then it is possible for superior officer to get a special commision promoting you into officer territory, but those are very rare.

there are several paths to Commissioning once in.
at the minimum, you will need a 4 year degree. The Navy has a program called Sta-21, whereby you can get your degree without having to go to OCS or the Academy, but you do attend a unoiversity with a ROTC program and you must complete a 4 year degree in 3 years. Already having a 2 year degree makes it more likely to get picked for such a program(assuming the AF has an equivalent.
The Navy also has two other programs, LDO and Warrant. while currently a degree is not required, in the very near future it probably will be, and you must have made E6 before you can consider applying to either program.
Otherwise, you could get the degree on your own time(or finish your EAOS, and use your GI Bill to fifnish up, then apply to OTS)

3 ways-
1. Get a 4 year college degree and enter 90 day ocs. If you pass, you get a officer commission.
2. ROTC during your degree program. You get out of OCS and you get a commission on graduation.
3. Air Force Academy- get a nomination from your senator and after four years of the most rewarding, challenging college program you will ever face- you get a commission (as well as a six year commitiment).
NOTE- number 3 is the most respected way and will take you a long way in military as well as civilian life.
good luck.

All I want to say is that DonSoze has no idea what he is speaking of in this question. A Sergeant First Class is onl an E-7 and there are 9 enlisted ranks.

If it is anything like the Navy, then to be an officer, you will need a college degree.

You need a Bachelors degree, then you apply to OCS and then you are on your way. My husband went this same route. Best of luck.

Just remember to take college courses while your in. The best way really is to go to college before you join up.
