When I was younger, I took a bet with a mate that I could last for two weeks without sleep, lasted twelve days then passed out in class.
Also, when I was suffering from very vivid dreams the next year; I wouldn't sleep for three weeks; the fear of my dream drove me to stay awake. They ended up giving me a tranquilizer, after which I've never had trouble getting to sleep, although I don't have any problems staying up for four days straight now either.

I have gone about 40 hours straight without sleep, no caffiene or anything. But it was like walking in a dream and when I finally got sleep I woke up feeling awful.

My good friend has stayed awake for 22 hours at which point he fell asleep for many an hour after that.
but you always need sleep for at least 8 hours a day.

if you dont include caffine around 48 hours. but yeah that really doesnt count to much as after 24 you start to dream while you are awake. really funny stuff being awake that long.

4 days. No caffein, nothing. Just eat, drink, poop, and working my assignment.
I shut myself down for 24 hours afterward.
