our problems with winning wars seems to start when we renamed the War Department the Department of Defense. Was that the beginning of the leadership being pu$$ies?

We need folks like we had in WW2 to lead our military.

You know, I never thought about it that way, but your observation is 100% correct. I wonder though, was the name change a cause or an effect? What I mean is, did they make it the DOD because it better reflected the new attitudes that led to ineffetive campaigns, or did the change in name shift the way the agency perceived itself, which sapped them of some vital psychological advantage?

That is when we had the Draft! This is off the subject but .....It's highly unlikely, short of something huge like a world war, that we will ever see a draft again. The people don't want one, politicians don't want one and the military sure doesn't want one. So I think it's safe to worry about something else in the mean time, like getting our soldiers home safe from the middle east.

We need to unleash our military and support them as we did in WWII. We need to leash our media and have them get our country to support our cause rather than divide us and increase their income. Before the 1960's, the media was not profit making but public service. Since the 60's it has become a profit center that makes money by scaring us and provoking controversy, They want us to do nothing but be sacred and stay home and watch their programs. We are not getting news, we are getting edited excerpts and the opinions of the talking heads.

The problem now is we don't fight wars to win them anymore. we use them for cash generators for the extreme wealthy. in WWII we went into a war we didn't want to fight, but we had to win for the rest of the world. Iraq is just to feed the rich. if it were something that needed to be done, we would have did it already.
