When you get your puppy, chances are it will be a good dog. They tend to be sweet, they can be yappy at times, but for the most part, they are good. 1 piece of advice would be to make sure you brush the dog and also get the puppy used to grooming as early as you can. Find a grooming shop that you are going to stick with for the most part and call them to schedule a puppy groom and do it at the age that the groomer suggests... Bichons tend to not like to be groomed even though they need to have regular grooming.

This is the definition for them in my giant dog book: Attractive, adaptable, happy, bold, and lively the Bichon has found a large following since its emergence from obscurity in the late 1970s. As well as being the ultimate companion dog, this breed is game and hardy. In Norway, farmers recently discovered it could be trained to round up sheep. Regular grooming is essential. The teeth and gums require attention, since the breed has a strong tendency to form tartar and develop gum infections. Although many whita-haired breeds suffer from chronis skin complaints, the Bichon does not.

I have one and she is loving and very sweet. The are very obsessive with their owners, ours follows my daughter everywhere and sits and waits for her to come out of what ever room she is in. We also have one of her first litter of puppies, he is also part chihuahua and he is adorable to. Now we have a second litter they are also part chihuahua.
