Spiritually speaking I'm in terrible shape. But, I want to change that. Basically I'm addicted to porn and I am angry with God because I disagree with him saying I need to change. I realize that I do, but it just seems impossible for me to do so. Well, I don't want to be mad at God anymore and I want to just make the choice to follow Jesus for the rest of my life without turning back. I was a christian, at one time I was a minister myself, but I don't resemble that person anymore. I'm not saying I want to be a minister agian, I just want to get out of this cycle of self will and be for Jesus the rest of my life. If you can't help me, please just pray for me then. I know I'm a sinner, I know I need him, but how can I make it last?

First, let me commend you for recognizing you have a problem. That is the first step to recovery. Because you are conscious of your spiritual need, you are bothered by your addiction to pornography because it violates your moral standard in front of our creator and threatens your relationship with him. Pornography, like many other addictions, is one of the key traps that Satan uses to turn us away from serving God. Because pornography plays on our senses and desires, it makes us feel weak and vulnerable when we can't resist its lure. It doesn't help matters any that the world we live in is geared toward sex and various perversions of it. Let's face it, pornography works to turn people away from God. You obviously have first hand knowledge of this fact. The interesting thing is that there are Bible examples we can look at. The first being the case of King David. You probably remember the account when he was on the rooftop and took notice of Bathsheba bathing far away. Rather than turning away, he continued to watch her until he made it up in his mind that he wanted to take her. We know from this account the impact that the eyes can have on our mental disposition, so we have to guard ourselves from the desires of the flesh. As difficult as it may be, the best thing to do is to turn away and get rid of any and all pornography that you have. If you have a subscription, call and cancel it. This is not easy to do, and like many addictions, you will probably have relapses. But if your resolve is to serve God, then keep that as your main focus.

Find a scripture that you feel strongly about and each time you consider purchasing or viewing pornography, remind yourself of the scripture. For example, Colossians 3:5, 6 says: "Deaden, therefore, YOUR body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of those things the wrath of God is coming."

Eventually if you can resist the first few weeks or month without acting on your impulses, you will find that it gets much easier and a lot of the images disappear from your memory. This is because God's spirit is helping you to combat your problem. But you have to make the first move and it has to be a sincere effort. You also need to pray about it constantly, addressing your prayers to Jehovah God and closing them through Christ Jesus (since Jesus is the mediator between us and God - see 1 Timothy 2:5).

Remember that you are not the only one fighting this particular fight. Satan is using this avenue to distract many from serving God because it works...if it didn't, he wouldn't use it. Also keep in mind that even though we aren't strong enough to fight things like this on our own, God supplies us with "power beyond what is normal". (2 Corinthians 4:7)

You can do this. Many people have overcome this problem and problems even worse than this. Rest assured that God will take a corresponding step for each step you take and see you through.

Turn off the computer, and if possible, either get rid of it, limit yourself to 15 minutes daily, or sign up for the Covenant Eyes program, which monitors all of your internet usage and sends a copy to your wife, your minister, or a treatment professional. (see below.)

Based on your own values, the pornography is interfering with your life. You need to have support from others. Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous or Sexaholics Anonymous are 12 step programs designed to help you.

This is a real addiction. It has changed your brain, and your recovery must be a priority if you're going to get your old self back.

Good luck.

I appreciate your honesty. The Bible says deaden your body members with reguard to fornication.I have been single a long time and I know it is a hard thing to do. I think Satan is being instramental in your case also. For it is he that the Bible says pits the thought in the mind. Do not forget Relelations says that Satan knows he has a short time lest and will mislead many. Also Satan has1/3 of heavens angels who went bad with him on his side. That dse not make it easier. I suggest that you really pray with a true heart andask God [Isa 42:8} to help you. You can always count on me as a friend also. I beleive my e mail is listed Good bye for now friend

People say that when we are doing wrong it's because the devil
is cominng at us. Not so! It's when we try and do right that we
come under fire by the forces of evil.
As a minister, you were subjected to all kinds of negative energy
from others. When one is open spiritually, they need to build
a shield of protection.
Imagine a light all around you, like you see pictures in your minds
eye. Call on our Highest Power for guidance and protection.

First of all:

Human beings are not meant to be all day in churches worshipping their gods and hitting their chests and calling themselves a sinners.

I think that a human being should be working in self improvement and meeting their own goals. And should care about his equals and work for the improvement of his comunity ans his enviroment.

First, you never were a true Christian, for those who have a personal relationship with Jesus, never leave.

Second, get off the internet, and get on your knees and ask God into your heart.

Leave the ministering to those who truly follow God.

Father,
I stand together with this back slid brother in Christ, handing over to you this burden in his life, asking you to take it from him according to your perfect will. You promise to always go after your lost sheep, and this sheep is seeking your face and forgiveness for falling so very short of your glory.

We ask that you cleans him body and soul, and place his feet, once again, firmly onto the solid rock of our loving and merciful savior, Jesus. All sins are forgiven through sincere repentance, and I feel this man is sincere. Please take him by your loving hands and into your healing arms, and bring him back into your light.

I praise you Father, for this merciful gift of forgivness, and pray that you always keep satan out of his life, as he begings a renewed life with you. Take all desires of the flesh from him, and help him to remain focused upon you and for him to emerse himself in your glorous word. In the precious name of Jesus, amen
