Lmao! Sounds like most family's. The wife & children get an idea into their heads & its just a matter of time before you give in.
Have fun learning to play!

Look at it this way, if everyone is happy in the family except you then find a way to be happy. Besides it could be worse, like having a relative move in, or a cat or whatever. Do the piano thing for awhile and when everyone gets tired of it, then sell it for the fishing boat youve always wanted. If they dont tire of it then start praying theres a Liberace among your family members and retire. Dont worry-be happy!

If you get the piano how long will it be until the novelty wears off and you'll be the one that is trying to get rid of it. You have to tell your wife you reservations about having this, it sounds like a waste of money and time if no one will use it and its just going to sit in a corner and gather dust. I personally wouldn't get it but that is my own opinion, you have to make the decision as a family.

Maybe just to keep the wife happy, hope that you live in a permanent house, as usually where you put them they need to stay, unless its on wheels, they can make a nice piece of furniture, but imagine the kids, trying to learn piano, lest its not a drum kit, lol. Look on the bright side, after awhile she may get sick of it to, and give it away, then they will have to find four blokes to move it. good luck..........

Work it out with them. Take the piano and if no one plays it or gets lessons on it or quits lessons soon after taking them..the piano goes. Give a certain amount of time, say..... 6 months.
Life is so much easier when we compromise.

All I can say is:
- the kids that don't have a piano want one and feel deprived.
- the kids that have a piano don't play it except for once in a blue moon.
-kids that don't have lessons want to be able to play well
-when you pay for lessons they won't practice.
It's life ... if you ask me it's a case of trying to judge which is the lesser evil! Saying "no", or having the piano.
Wishing you the best of British,

I took on a friends piano cause my kids said they would love to play one, it spent 4 years in the lounge, another 5 in the porch and ended up at the local tip, none of them learnt to play it,just made a noise.
