My 2002 Passat TDI S 130 lights up the ESP dashboard warning light after travelling about one mile. If the car is then stopped and re-started it seems to re-set itself until another mile has passed when it lights up again. The service indicator has just come up to say another service is due (80,000 full VSH), but I think this is just a coincidence. Pressing the dashboard ESP button has no effect. Does anyone have any ideas as to either the cause and/or how to fix it please.

Possibly worse news today. As well as the ESP warning light now staying on permantely, there is another warning light now on (haven't got a handbook but its a yellow circle with a triangle in it and what looks like road markings in the middle, ABS ?). Both these two warning lights come on immediately after starting and stay on. I've checked all the electrical connections I can see and it all seems fine. All belts are tight and in good condition, no visible leaks from anywhere etc. Although I can drive with these on, I'd rather have everything working ok - it might save my life. Just don't like the thought of a VW bill at the end, but I can see thata how its going to end up. I did have another genuine VW key coded about a week ago - could this be related to the cars electronic brain in any way ?.
