ok i am half puerto rican and my birth father left me and my mom when i was one year old and he lied to my mom and she was young. and now i am sorta wanting to see him but then i sorta don't what should i do? i have never met him and don't know where he is should i try to find him or not?

You should try to locate him if you can to find out what type of man he has become but definitely be careful not to get too emotionally close with him until you find that out.

You can't judge someone you don't know based on what someone else says. I'm sure your mom had her reasons why she didn't want to be with him, but that doesn't mean you can't meet him to get closure in your life. He may not want to have anything to do with kids if he hasn't tried to contact you on his own, but like I said, you could at least meet him to KNOW who your father is. My mom didn't meet her father until she was 34 years old, and although she met him finally, she still doesn't have a relationship with him, BUT she can say she knows who her dad is now. It's completely up to you what you want to do though. If you do, don't have any expectations or pre-judge him...you do not know him from the guy sitting next to you at the street light. It's true you do need closure. Either within yourself on your own or through contacting him. But, before you do contact him MAKE SURE you are ready for whatever he has to say or do or NOT DO. Be prepared for anything that he has to say good or BAD. First of all he doesn't seem like a man of virtue or value, but then again, we all make mistakes and he may want and need to ask your forgiveness and/or explain his behavior for closure for you as well as himself. You should get some closure because if you don't you'll just end up another F'd up chick with "Daddy" issues. You should meet him at least once but don't expect anything. He already left you and your mom once. He is a loser.
Get some therepy too.

I think you should find out where he lives and write him a letter or get his number somehow and try to contact him. If your mom is okay with it you should try to visit him over a long break or something.
