Yesterday, I gave blood. So I know that I felt fine after I got up and went and had something to eat and drink while I waited for my 10 mintues that they made me sit. I didn't sit the whole time, I was mostly getting up to throw rappers out. I went back to my class, and felt totaly fine. But as soon as I got to my locker to put my things away, I felt really sick. My vison was very blurry, and I couldn't hear. I know that happens when I get really tired. And as far as my hears it felt like someone had put pastic cups over my ears. Then I had a friend who I called over to help me open my locker, I told her I wasn't feeling well, and that I gave blood. She told me to sit on the floor and did. Then I got and walked around. By this time when our bus came to get us and transport us back to our home school, I had broke out into a sweat, but I was frezzeing cold ( cold sweat), and all I wanted to do was lay down and go to sleep. My friend gave me some juice, because I was becomeing very pale.

I got on the bus and went back to my home school. It is about a 10 or 15 mintue bus run. When we got back, my friends were worried that I was going to faint, so they took me to the nurses office. I layed down and took a nap for about an hour. I know that where I gave, there wasn't really someone watching me closely. They took a pint, 3 or 4 viles full (they were quite large form what i could see,I could be wrong on how many there where), plus a small one.So is it possbile that I gave to much, and that's what I'm thinking. My mom thinks it could be that my blood pressure was way to low, and thats why it hit me so hard, because she has had the same problem. It also was in my left arm.

It sounds like your glucose levels were off... I am not medically trained, however, and you should definitely ask your doctor so that he can run some tests to make sure there is nothing that needs to be treated.

I agree with the first answer. It sounds as if you may have a little bit of a blood sugar problem. Do you notice any dizziness when you haven't eaten for a few hours? I would asvise you to talk with your parents immediately and set up an appointment for a glucose test with your doctor. They are LONG, but important.
You will have to not eat before the appointment and then quickly drink a very sugary drink that is not entirely unlike flat soda.... After an hour, they will check your blood sugar levels.
You should definately check it out though. That's nothing to ignore. It could be hypoglycemia, which can turn into diabetes if it is not taken care of. Good luck ⥠â¥

yes, everything was done correctly.
I've had that happen to me....the thing is that you need to lay down and take sugar (in any form) because you're low on sugar when you feel faint, but your body is also moving blood around and that makes you lightheaded too. Anyway if you didn't sit down you might have fainted and could have been out for just a second (and soaked your slacks) or could have gone out for a short while, or could have gone into a coma. That's why it's important not to exercise or do anything strenuous after giving blood, and you need to take sugar. Comas are scary...I gave blood once and the CNA's tried for about 15 minutes or more to "keep me from going into a coma". The point is, keep yourself from going into a coma.

What do you have against rappers? I mean, I don't like their music that much but if they are there to give blood, I can overlook that and I sure wouldn't be throwing them out.
When did you eat and drink and what did you eat and drink in the 24 hours after giving blood? Sounds like you had a case of either hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or low blood pressure. They should have told you to drink lots of water and eat some good meals after giving blood. If they didn't they goofed. If they did and you didn't do it, you goofed.

Oh yeah....this happens to me all the time...it's low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Best thing for you to do when this happens is to drink juice (OJ works great for me) and just sit quietly until your levels become normal. You probably didn't eat before giving blood, right? This is also why they give you juice & cookies right afterwards...but your blood sugar levels may just be sensitive. Best thing is to eat a good meal prior to giving blood & it won't happen again.

Sounds like you had an episode of bradycardia caused by excessive vagal stimulation. That makes your heart slow down, BP drop and you get those symptoms. I get that when I give blood. It has nothing to do with how much they take out. If it happens often you should check with your MD.

Had it been a long time since you had eaten before you gave blood? If you hadn't, I think this could have something to do with it. Are you anemic?

You had a reaction to the blood donation and you should not do it again without checking with your doctor.
There are many reasons for this - you may be of slight build for instance - but please do not do it again without getting medical advice.
