I have been in this Immigration section for quite some time now and theres a lot of people here saying that ALL Mexicans here are illegally in this country and that they dont pay taxes, receiving wefare for free, filling up the local hospitals, etc. etc. Based on the assumption of how people look they come to that conclusion. Otherwise, people making those allegations, how do they personally know that the Immigrant waiting in line at the hospital with his/her kids does not have the proper documentation to be a legal citizen? Did they personally ask for the immigration status then came back runninng back to thier computer and start asking quetions like "Why do we have to pay for their taxes" here at Yahoo awnsers? Then those made up stories go around and know they all believe the hype. ofcourse theres "News Anchors" out there that arent law makers that come out clean about their racists points of views like Grumpy Old Man does.

These people come out clean on their racists comments because they dont run the risk of loosing their job. Why, because the majority of the Mexican Immigrants living here are legal and know that they are going to vote against them and loose their job. Amnesty is just around the corner.
P.S. I think its so funny how people like Grumpy Old Man say that thers 30 Million Undocumented Immigrats here but then he turns around and says 80% of AMrican population is against Undocumented Immigrants. HHmmm, I think he needs to go back to grade school and take a basic math class. Or he might want to stop his lies. Either or.

KATSLUVER, Your postings may be true, but theres much other information on the benefits about these people. Its like Lou Dobbs putting on tv people running across the desert being chased or being handcuffed, but they dont show the "illegals" fighting in Iraq and rebuilding New Orleans.

On the race issue: it is true that among many other ills that befall America, illegal immigration has spawned a great deal of racisim towards Latins both legal and illegal. It's yet one more reason that illegal anything doesn't work.
Sadly, there are many righteous, legal immigrants/naturalized in the USA now and they are frequently discriminated against cuz people don't know what to think, so they think the worst.
I must say it is pretty clear around where I am, who just illigaly scampered across the line.
I personally won't hire anyone who I suspect of being an illegal. Not because I don't like them as people but because I don't want to be part of the problem we have in this country. If outhers did as I profess to do, we wouldn't have the problem.
The other thing I want to mention to you, is that outside of the fact that Hispanics MAY look darker or whatever, the one's that drink and drive (frequently without insurance or lic.), hit and run, dump used disposable diapers and other large amounts of trash on our highways, use our public sector education health programs (without paying for their use) and then don't speak or try to speak any English, hold themselves out for such discrimination justifiably in my mind.
The point here is that it's not what people look like that brings on the tendecy for discrimination ...it is how they act or more accurately, mis-act in the presence of Americans who generally obey the law and know how to conduct themselves in the American culture or public eye.
If Illegals came here and spoke English, paid their own way and fit in, no one would be able to identify them as different or illegal.
Hint: It wasn't very smart to hold a Day Without A Mexican rally the way it was done and the outcome that came with it was these folks shooting themselves in their own foot ...as a result of their own mis-actions. It is their own personal clumbsyness that is and will ultimately bring down illegals. Not racism.

Not everyone judges on looks. I don't like any illegals, regardless of color because I believe we all need to be held to the same standard in our laws. All of us. And no, I don't go up and ask people. Do you? But, if I do find out they are- or I see people while they are crossing, I do report them. But, I don't go around all report happy and calling INS on every foreigner I can get my hands on. By the way, that was really rude what you said about the way Chicanos smell. They don't smell any different than other people. I can't believe you'd say crap like that after calling people racist and judgemental.
Additionally, your shampoo really dries out my hair, but it smells nice. Can you put in some extra moisturizers?

Analysis of the latest Census data indicates that Arizona’s illegal immigrant population is costing the state’s taxpayers about $1.3 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration. Even if the estimated tax contributions of illegal immigrant workers are subtracted, net outlays still amount to about $1.3 billion per year. The annual fiscal burden borne by Arizonans amounts to more than $700 per household headed by a native-born resident. .
The $1.3 billion in costs incurred by Arizona taxpayers is comprised of outlays in the following areas:
Education. Based on estimates of the illegal immigrant population in Arizona and documented costs of K-12 schooling, Arizonans spend approximately $820 million annually on education for illegal immigrant children and for their U.S.-born siblings.
Health Care. Uncom-pensated medical outlays for health care provided to the state’s illegal alien population is now estimated at about $400 million a year.
Incarceration. The cost of incarcerating illegal aliens in Arizona prisons and jails amounts to about $80 million a year (not including the monetary costs of the crimes that led to their incarceration).
The unauthorized immigrant population pays some state and local taxes that go toward offsetting these costs, but they do not come near to matching the expenses. The total of such payments might generously be estimated at $257 million per year.
The fiscal costs of illegal immigration do not end with these three major cost items. The total costs of illegal immigration to the state’s taxpayers would be considerably higher if other costs such as special English instruction, school nutrition programs, or welfare benefits for American workers displaced by illegal alien workers were added into the equation.

if they dont speak english theyre probably not legal. its a requirement for the test. yes you can assume theyre illegal because almost all who can't speak english are.--also, its not racist to want people who steal the right to live in your country to at least speak the fricken language.
