how far is Herndon,va to D.C. and what is the family life like for raising children and is the town country.?

i want to move there and raise a family but i dont want the big city life. how is the cost of living and how close to D.C. where i will be working

Herndon is about 25 miles ENE of DC, but even ideally it is about a 45 minute drive. There are about 22,000 people living there today. It's not all concrete and buildings like DC.
