I think that these new so called non-lethal weapons have a great potential for abuse by police.

Police can over use these weapons on civilians for sinister purposes like racial hatred, sadistic cruelty. I think police gain great pleasure from sadistic acts of cruelty inflicted on people.

I have read many articles of police laughing after seriously hurting people.

Are police agencies a type of sick S & M like de Sade.

I think that the police get some type of adrenalin rush. A powerful endorfin high from the thrills of high speed chases and torturing and killing people and destroying peoples lives.

Endorphins are a powerful heroin like high.

I bet if you did a scientific experiment and monitored police endorphine levels you'd be able to see them raise significantly during high speed chases and attacking and beating down suspects.

There's probably no rush quite like it. It's probably better than sky diving or smoking crack.

Police are literally becoming Junkies

Sure they could be used for torture. But do the police use it in that manner. Not likely. But I am sure it probably has already happened somewhere.

One thing that you don't realize is that the electric weapon is not designed for pain compliance. It is designed to prevent the person from using their muscles. The current basically short circuits the connectors allowing the arms, etc from being used. I am not saying it doesn't hurt, but there is a difference in what you are saying versus how it actually works.

I and neither can you, come up with an incident that you have described. You have overdramatized something you have either dreamed up or saw in a movie and tried to apply it to the police. I ask you AGAIN to show me the article and source of your claim.

It would seem to me that you are far worse that any officer would ever be.

What is your agenda?

You use this forum to attack the police spouting some off the wall remarks about things you have no personal knowledge of. Please show us the articles that you are referring to or retract your accusation.

I believe in freedom of speech but not freedom to lie.

The hormone you are probably thinking of is adrenalin which is what is released in stressful situations. You will never find out what a rush it is because you will never be a cop. Just like I will never know what smoking crack is like because I am not a criminal.

By the way, a taser would make a great torture weapon since you ask. Many third world countries use them regularly.

Which brings me to another point. If you hate it here so much in the USA why don't you leave. I have some recommendations on some lovely countries you could relocate to, and maybe if you walk up to a cop and ask them real nice they'll show you how its done.

Yes, good point, but your supporting comments don't help your insightful question. I think it is absolutely clear that torture is a modern business that uses modern equipment and age old stupidity.
Take Vietnam for example, we fought for a decade, and used and watched torture all of that time, and we lost the war in the sense that 60,000. Americans died and we failed to win our goals.
The famous example of taking two Vietnamese up in the helicopter and asking one the questions and when that person did not talk, throw him or her out of the chopper at 1000 feet. Then not so politely asking the second prisoner if he or she would now talk. Often they said something anyway, buying a little time.
America's tortured Vietnamese on a regular basis. But we did not use a stun gun because it was not invented and distributed as of of yet. That is the only reason we did not us it.
Very disturbing question, but a necessary one.
Also, if we are torturing prisoners now in police stations across the Country, we really have lost our soul as a group of people.

I am sorry if you are offended by officers doing thier job, but it works like this, you have someone who is refusing to obey the commands of a police officer. So instead of having to beat them with your club or spraying mace in thier face, you use the tazer. It is safer on the person and keeps most people from being hurt.

Most officers have to be tazered before they can be certified to use them, so they know what it feels like, and also knows it should have no long term effect.

And yes they may joke, because they have just made a good arrest, they did a good job and they are glad a bad guy who was not obeying instractions

Toruture yes, info extraction maybe, everyone's tolerance level for pain is different, as far as execusion goes it is not the voltage that kills you, it is the AMPS, and it can't really look like an accident becuase you still have the entry point of the prongs and such, as far as everything else goes, police need all the edge they can get, I fully support them ALL the way.
