No, I don't suggest we lower ourselves to their standards, I'm suggesting we go below their standards.I suggest we become what the world thinks we are, I suggest we become their worst nightmare.I suggest we take no prisoners! For all you goody two shoes out there, you should have been with me in Viet Nam,Lebonan,Libya and everywhere else I had to pick body parts out of my hair and clothes. Ask McCain how many enlisted people were POWs.I've been shot twice defending you belly acheing, cry baby so called freedom lovers. I didn't see God on the battlefield either, so don't go there. The only time I heard his name mentioned was when some poor slob was screaming for him and his Mom while pieces of him were blown all to hell and back. You people don't deserve freedom. You people make me sick.

After seven combat tours I feel your pain... HOWEVER, sucumbing to the levels of your adversary directly demonstrates weakness. John McCain has not only been a POW... he danged sure supports them. I don't think he takes this lightly or doesn't care. He certainly is nobody's fool. I'm a conservative, but I'd vote for John McCain.... because he doesn't adhere to party lines. He adheres to what he honestly believes is right.

We operate by a set rules.... because we are honorable Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen.

I agree this isn't a conventional war... its asymetrical battle against terrorists and insurgents..... not against an army. Maybe there are some tactics we should add to the soldiers tool box. But being a paratrooper for 24 years... I do know what can happen when we don't operate within the rules. I have been there and done that... and sometimes it hasn't been real pretty.

5 years of conflict won't change 10,000 of history....... or idiology.

Its about god damn time someone said it. The insurgents in fallujah iraq must have not got the memo about the geneva convention when the burned u.s military contractors alive and hung there bodys on a bridge over the euphraties river. the only country on earth that actually follows the convention is the united states. But no one says anything about the other countrys that dont.

Torture has been employed by every nation, always. The US is no exception. You sound so appauled by what goes on, like it was something new. EVERY nation has secret prisoners. This is how we deal with the people who would otherwise escape the grip of the law while they commit atrocities.

You have both freedom AND security because some people will dirty their hands for ultimate good.

ALSO READ THE WORDS OF THE GENEVA CONVENTIONS!!! They clearly exclude the terrorist insurgents from the protection as POWs. They are not uniformed, they are foreign nationals, they commit war crimes (killing all those women and children, also using them as shields) and they do not engage in an open war against military and infrastructure targets.

They are afforded NO protection under the conventions. The reason people like these were intentionally excluded, (spy, saboteurs, terrorists) was so they could be summarily excuted. These types have been treated in this way (the right way to deal with them) for hundreds of years.

What country is this? If that particular country DIDN'T sign the Geneva Convention, than dick-all can be done about it. That's what happened during the WWII against the Japanese. Japan never signed it then (they probably have now) and they unmercilessly used POWs for slave labour just to wear them out. It was cruel and unusual, but that's how it was done by that empire then. Once that conflict was over, nothing could be done in regards to human rights about the POWs (hell, they got nuked twice, that's retribution enough).

If you did go to vietnam and the other places you said you deserve to say what you are saying and for all you people who think it would be barbaric to lower ourselves to their standards let me ask you how many wars has the U.S. been in that our soldiers have been treated fairly when captured.

All the same, McCain has my support. I believe we need to avoid torturing prisoners. Otherwise we are no better than any other totolitarian state that uses brutality to coerce information or confessions out of detainees. Its not being done on my behalf and does not have my support. The ones that do this are committing war crimes.

TERRIBLE, but John McCain is no idiot just because he stands up for the Geneva Convention. He is a dedicated, honorable Navy war veteran and a national hero, and so were his father and grandfather, both Admirals in the U.S. Navy. We're fighting an action against a TERRORIST GUERILLA force that doesn't give a damn for the Geneva Convention. We are not going to lower ourselves to their level.

That service record you claim? I don't believe you.

I don't believe you were in Vietnam, Lebanon, and Libya. All together none of those add up. Even assuming you were in Group (or something else) the way you conduct yourself just doesn't add up.

Unless you can say something that validates that mythical service record you've cooked up, you're a wannabe and an imposter. Everything you say is forfeit.

Who's the idiot? How long did you spend in a Vietnamese prison as a POW?

Are you Christian? So Jesus was wrong when he said that enemies should be treated like friends?

Shame on you. War is not easy and just because they are not following the 'rules' doesn't mean that we should stoop to that level. Where does that leave us morally?

Don't you think that a better solution would be to either send more troops to prevent this from happening or to remove them completely? Funny how morons think that the only answer to violence is to react with more extreme violence. Darling - that doesn't make you any better than the terrorists. It makes you one.
