A friend of mine's Employment Authorization card has expired since 2003 and she wants to renew it. We have been to the www.uscis.gov site but haven't found any information about renewing, just applying. If anyone has any information on how to renew, please let me know. And thanks in advance to everyone who took the time to answer.

Well, it has been expired for three years and if she is still in the country she is going to have some trouble renewing. If not in the country, the uscis does list a phone number and they can direct you to the correct area, as that website can be difficult to navigate. Some permits or visas have waiting periods before you can apply again. If she is still in the country with an expired card, she is going to have to get a lawyer to straighten out the mess.

Hello:

How she got her employment authorization document at the first place?

She shall keep in mind that her work card is always tied to her immigrant status in the USA. If her status has expired in 2003 -- she will not be able to renew her card.

The only way for her to get her status back in order is if she is married to a USA citizen and they apply for her green card (and a new work authorization).
