Well... it doesn't actually get rotten because it's frozen.
But it does get freezer burn ( the little ice crystals that form on it after it's been in your freezer for a while) then the texture gets kind of funky.
and it absorbs the smell of your freezer and makes it taste funny. But it doesn't get little black bugs in it like the first answer says. It can't ... the bug couldn't live in your freezer.
So I guess basicly....the answer to your question would be yes ... it won't stay tasting good forever just because it's frozen.

Not rotten, exactly, if it's kept in the freezer. But it does get ice crystals and starts to taste like the carton after a couple of months. Throw it out.

If it is left at room temperature it will melt and grow mould / go rotton within a few days. A freezer slows down the process but it will still go rotton if left long enough (I am guessing 1-2 yrs) In most households ice cream doesn't last that long!

No it will not get rotten, but it will get freezer burn and will taste bad if it is in the freezer for a long time.

I don't know about rotten but if it's in the freezer too long then it gets this yucky taste. Freezer burn.

It isn't so much that it will go rotten, it's that no matter how you store it, it seems to eventually get freezer burn, and that tastes REALLY BAD!

Yea, it will. It is a dairy product and if left out, it will melt, then it will spoil. But if left frozen too long, then it will get freezer burn and taste like sand. It is a weird thing.
