Sometimes simle changes can help lose those last few stubborn pounds. If you are a soda drinker, consider kicking it to the curb and replacing it with waters and herbal or green teas. If you are not a calorie-sensitive person, try monitoring how many sugars you take in each day and consider cutting that number back. You may have mild intolerance to them (which can be an early sign of later diabetes problems- yet another reason to get fit now). Also, exercise is key! Make a point to do something active for at least 30 minutes a day- whether that is dancing, tennis, walking, or even just amping up the calories you burn while housecleaning.
My best personal diet is the one I am on now... I don't really have a name for it, because I made it up. It's a combination of the Curves diet, The South Beach Diet, and the fact that I am a vegan. It is pretty strict, though, so if you don't have much to lose and a while to lose it in, it may not be the answer for you. Rather than counting calories, just be sure that you only consume healthy, whole foods- increasing fruits and veggies while limiting sweets. Also, monitoring portion sizes. Remember that even a lightly dressed salad can make you gain weight if you eating it by the truckload!
I would advise limiting milk consumption, though. Milk has as much cholesterol and saturated fat as most meats do. Also, the latest Harvard studies are showing that people with higher dairy consumptions are actually MORE prone to weight gain and osteoperosis. For more information on that, check out http://dumpdairy.com . Good Luck!!

There is one thing I want to get straight first: there is no miracle diet that can take off 40 pounds in a day. However, there are diets that stop you from gaining weight, and others that let you lose a very small amount of weight.
Out of almost every dieting method in the world, not many work for me. Not Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach or anything. The two things that do work for me are
a)counting calories, and
b)vegetarianism.
Since counting calories doesn't for for you, I would suggest item B. I only became vegetarian recently, and it is already paying off. If you eat lots of nuts and/or tofu, you will recieve more protein than if you ate a steak each night. You can easily stop being a vegetarian if it doesn't work for you or you have lost enough weight. It is easy to give up meat, and even easier to try tofu and TVP (altthough some vegetarians don't). The only hard thing is ending temptations. :-) Try it! It works for me! And if it doesn't work, well, see if counting calories does work.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Subway/Jamba Juice diet.
I ate one 6 inch sub (the healthier ones with wheat bread, a ton of vegetables, and meat and cheese, and no mayo) and a 16 oz. Jamba Juice All Fruit Smoothie (that has all 5 servings of fruit) each day for about 10 days. I didn't increase my activity much, except for swimming laps.
It was a simple case of expending more calories than I was taking in. I was doing it the convenient fast food way, so I don't recommend it.
Counting calories may not work, but www.fitday.com is a good way to keep track of things, including food and exercise, as well as having goals. Even if you are curious once a week how you are doing with the food you eat and exercise you're accomplishing.

Definitely Weight Watchers, no calorie counting, no carb restricting, just common sense eating. Minimum 8 glasses of water per day, exercise program starts after 3rd week on program (they want you to get the food part down first) and it's aerobics and weights 3 times a week on altering days. You can drink milk if you want to. First week on Weight Watchers I lost 9lbs. and I didn't feel deprived. I've been on about 70 diets and have lost and gained all of my life and that was the first time I didn't feel deprived. Problem: You may be to thin to join. I've joined them several times on and off for maintainance. Once I tried to join at 126lbs and they said that was not the range of dieter they specialized in, that I needed to be at least 25lbs overweight. I was 6lbs overweight. When you join in person they weigh you. BUT you can join online now. Put in a higher weight than you are if what I would suggest. Google by putting in Weight Watchers. Good luck.

I learned to stop eating when I feel satisfied, not when I feel stuffed irregardless of what was left on my plate. (this was tough when you've grown up having it drummed into you that you can't let food go to waste when there are starving children in the world)
I changed things in my meals to lower calorie substitutes.
I lowered my portion sizes.
I got off the couch and did something (it didn't need to be going to the gym if I didn't want to - going to the neighborhood park for a nice walk or jog was just as good)
Above all, I don't get down on myself when things aren't going too good. I remember this is a journey, not a sprint. I don't need to be at that final weight goal within a certain amount of time. I use other things like compliments, better health, smaller clothes, etc as ways to keep myself in check.
It's better if the weight comes off in smaller chunks, like 2 pounds a week.

Seafood diet, everything I see I eat. Just kidding. Avoid white sugar, it is poison to the body and is empty calories that will put weight on you. You need to walk or do a light jog every day(or evey other day). Break a sweat. Drink quality water all day long. Sip on it even when your not thirsty. Forget about milk, too much fat. Remember a diet is not something you "go on", it is a lifestyle.

A depression. Walked 4-6 miles per day. Ate one meal most days and that would be considered a very light meal. Lost 35 lbs in less than a month.

I most liked the Weight Watchers points system. It was pretty easy. I kep my points under 20, drank lots of water, and tried to walk every day (although that was a bust most of the time). Lost 10 pounds, which was what I wanted to lose.
