its not easy but you can overcome these things without brain frying tablets.firstly make two lists 1 the things you like doing 2 the things that depress you and get you down.
start with the smallest things that bother you and get rid of it or sort it out the bigger things will become easy then.This will help a lot and give you more time to do the things that make you happy.
Just remember everyone else out there is just the same they are only human's like you and nothing to be scared of.A little each day and before you know it you will be nearly back to being ok.

It depends on the severity, type and length of the depression.
The tools available in treating depression are:
1. Antidepressants - which relieve the symptoms, not the cause of the depression.
2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - which tries to change the clients way of thinking. You can also buy many self-help guides which involve CBT.
3. General counselling - which can consist of CBT anyway.
4. Herbal Remedies - which have a variety of feedback and opinions related to them.
If someone is having suicidal/violent thoughts, then they need to contact their doctor immediately.
Sometimes, treatment for long term depression may consist of medication and CBT. The medication being used to treat the symptoms of depression whilst allowing the client to concentrate on therapy without being distracted by the symptoms.
Also, in short term cases of depression (usually in response to bereavement), the patient may be prescribed medication again to relieve the symptoms - i.e. allowing them to sleep properly at night.

I've had anxiety for 8 years... I'm on Beta-blockers which have helped me a great deal. They do not effect your brain chemically, just your heart rate.
I'm still in counselling, so not sure what effects that will have yet...
And not advisable, but at the moment I tend to stay away from situations that panic me.... i.e. I avoid restaurants and getting into a relationship. BUT NOT ADVISABLE if a lot of things panic you. Its just easier for me to avoid things until I understand more about my anxiety... plus I have a degree to finish so dont need the hassels of panic attacks!!!

St Johns Wart is a herbal remedy. You can buy from most chemists. Exercise really does work too.!!!!!!!!
Try finding out about something you've always wanted to do but didnt get round to it. Even the fact you have looked into it will give you a boost. Good Luck.

Go to www.unfranchise.com under the vitamins and anti-oxidants section. They have TONS of stuff with natural ingrediants that will make you feel more like yourself. I get panic attacks a lot and I tried this stuff called Bliss which is an anti-anxiety formula. I've been on it for about a month now and I haven't had one ever since.

I refused antidepressants and used herbal remideis available in the chemist such as valerina.
Also read a brilliant book called Living with FEar which really helped as well as seeing a nurse a couple of times.

Hi i went to my doctors bacause i was sufferiing from anxiety and depression, and the doctor wouldnt give me antidepressants and he told me to go and see a herbalist. So i went i told the lady my symtoms and she recommend me passiflora and they work wonders. Ive tried calms and quiet life and they dont work at all, as they have lots of other things in them so i would not recommend these. But passiflora really works, there are others like Valerian and ashwaganda, but its best to go and have a word with a herbalist in a herb shop near you, as they know which one you will need.

20 years - I have had it. If you can get jogging you will break it apart. I did that in my early 20's and got my first degree in university that way. With the jogging will come all the healthier food that your body will crave in order to jog - excercie more. With more fruit - fibre - protein - you will break it up. I have had it - a resurgence since I met my ex when I stopped excercising. Dont tell your parter you have it - they will use it against you. Its the old diet and excerice thing - the timeless classic. Get 8 hours of sleep a night

Admitting that you have a problem is really half the battle. Working out whay you feel this way, and working on making it better. But, I wouldnt knock anti-depressants, and would happily stay on them until I feel strong enough to manage. Dont beat yourself up about it. Find what works and do it!

Dance lessons! Salsa or swing. They help you concentrate on physiclly learning something, and are tied to all sorts of good feelings.
Worth a try, don't you think?
Along with St. John's Wort - could be very effective.
