I was giving a older computer from my work it has win xp pro on it the problem I have is that I can not get the adminiatrator rights for it I have no xp pro cd but i can get it to log onto as a different user what I want to do is gain back admin rights but I dont know how or where to look right now its not connceted to the net overall I dont know the password to get admin nore does anyone else please help !!

If there is nothing of value on it just use Deriks Nuke and Boot on it, which will wipe EVERYTHING on it so that you can install either linux or windows. (make sure it doesn't have service pack 2 or it wont work)

Right click on my computer, select manage then choose Local users and groups, under groups see if you can add you as an administrator to that group. If Not you may have to install a new version of XP.

i would suggest taking it to a place where the admin password can be cracked using knoppix, unless you know how to do this yourself

If your work gave it to you then you need to take it to them and have them set you us as the administrator.

use UBCD
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
it will rip out the password hive in the registry and you can use a new password.
