ICNA has declared the Saturday is the first day of Ramadan.
However, it is absolutely impossible that the moon was visible last night.
According to US Navy astronomical data, the moon will be illuminated 1% (maybe visible) until moonset at 7:42 at my location in the eastern time zone, tonight, which would mean IF the moon is visible tonight, Ramadan starts tomorrow.
1% is not very much, and 1 minute of not-quite-dark is not very long. If the moon is not sighted tonight, Ramadan will start Monday, after 30 days of Shaaban.
Astronomically speaking, the moon will be visible Sunday night in the Chicago area, so your fast will start Monday. But check with your local mosque or Islamic Center.

I agree with the comment smiliecat gave. I checked online. It depends on where you live. 9/24, 9/25. Your best bet is to go with the date and times of the masjid that you attend.
Ramadan Mubarak

I think every muslim is asking this question. The best thing for you to do is to contact your local masjed. I started today. Everywhere online is divided between today "Saturday" and tomorrow "Sunday"

lots of people say that it started today on the 23, but since the moon wasn't very clear, then everyone else should start tomorrow. Ramadan Kareem!!!

call your local mosque/masjid and follow what they say
the moon was sighted in some places last night therefore it should be today
we started on sat. (our masjid/mosque) it all depends on where you live and attend (half of my extended family started yesterday and the rest today) its confusing
