The score is what your team makes on the hole. One score for the team. You add up your score on all 18 holes to get your total score.

A scramble consists of two or more player playing for a single score. Everybody on the scramble team hits their shot and then the captain chooses one of those shots to play the next shot. The other players pick up their ball and drop at the captains choice (deemed to be the best shot). This is repeated until the ball in in the hole and the number of best strokes is counted as the score for that hole. This is repeated for all 18 holes.
In a four man scramble of reasonable players a score of 10 or 12 under par can be reasonably expected.
