Dogs can't get aids, altho primates like monkeys and chimps can. Dogs, however, can get lupus, which is also an auto-immunse disease. Symptoms would be frequent urination with blood, white gums and sometimes no longer behaving well, from being confused.

We had a collie with lupus, and by the time a competent vet figured it out, he had almost bled out. He required a transfusion, and spent the rest of his life on prednisone, which causes problems itself and should not be used like aspirin!!!!

Vets often do not bother to tell people that prednisone is a serious drug, and can cause horrible, painful withdrawal if you decide the dog is better and stop giving it to them. THis is a major peeve of ours here at the shelter. Most people have to discover this the hard way, with an ailing pet they were trying to help.

Yes, I got off the subject. Sorry :-)

Yes, if a person with Aids have sex with it or effect it on purpose . HIV virus spread through any warm blooded animal, so its possible. Its believed that Aids originally came from an animal some where in Central Africa.

There may be something similar. I know cats can get FIV, which is the feline version of AIDS. As far as Dogs getting the human version of the HIV virus, no.

No - that is strictly a human disease. HIV means human immunodeficiency virus. Possibly if someone who had AIDS had sex with a dog or other animal. I don't really know about that.

dogs cannot get "AIDS" by definition, but they can suffer from immune deficiencies.

My dog developed something like this, but the vet did not know how to deal with it and basically killed him.

No. The pre-cursor to full blown AIDS is HIV or Human immunodeficiency virus, ergo you need to be human to get it.

No, silly they can't get HIV, but you might consider seeing a shrink if you have been doing what this question might be suggesting.
