Religion was created by man to instill fear and control the masses. Oh, and to collect their money too.

No, it was created by a few blokes with long beards thousands of years ago as a way of getting in touch with the phenomenon popularly referred to as "God."
Problem is that none of them could read or write and so relied on word of mouth to get the message round. As humankind is totally hopeless at passing on exact messages in this fashion, the much needed invention of the written word came about. Problem was, by the time anyone wrote the message down it had caught a terrible case of "Chinese Whisper Syndrome," from which it never fully recovered.
Because the message had been altered so much, everyone had a version which was different to everyone elses. This caused great conflict as everyone believed that the message they had was the original message and all others had been misheard, misread or simply made up.
This conflict still continues today. Let's face it, people hate being wrong they hate liars even more!

I really think religion has the same roots as mythology. People long ago made up stories to explain things they didn't understand. Human insecurity allowed these stories to be used to manipulate people, and keep a lot of people clinging to the stories, to this day. I don't know whether or not God exists, or whether or not the devil exists. No one actually does. But I know the real problem is insecurity. That is a greater threat to us than "the devil" could ever be.

Yes you have hit the nail on the head. If you read the Bible you notice that religion was never God's intention for anyone. Sadly though we make religions. But did you know that Christianity isn't a religion at all? Its a fact its actually a relationship with the Almighty. How cool would that be? You see God wants us to be His friend, or some would call Him Father. If you have friendship with someone or a you are close to a member of your family you don't have a religion with them you have a relationship, the same goes with God. He longs for us all to have a relationship with Him. What about you? Contact me for further info.

"religion" is an established set of pre-suppositions that man has put on itself. Christianity is a relationship with God not merely a religion. Plus God created the Devil--and the Devil has not been known to create anything. He is however known to use God's creation as a negative tool to foster hatred, pride guilt and shame

I think religion started out as good, but the devil corrupted most of it, and used it to shake his fist at God. Just like he has everything that God originally made good. Look at some of the crazy things he has people believing.
Bhuddism - the problem with the world is distinction. If you meditate really hard and eliminate distinction in your mind, you can stop the cycle of reincarnation in your life and not come back as an aardvark.
Scientology - The evil alien lord Xenu banished billions of aliens to volcanoes in the earth where they died and their spirits ascended to spirit-catchers and were dispersed amongst prehistoric man, and that is the cause of all the problems in the world.
Mormonism - Jesus came to earth to visit the jews who had moved to america. They wrote his newer new testament on plates of gold and buried them. Josesph Smith (a con artist) found them and translated them out of a hat with two rocks.
Evolution - billions of years ago, there was a piece of matter that began spinning and growing until a cosmic burp caused it to explode and form the ancestry of all that we see today.
Islam - God's prophet (we know he was a prophet because he had a mole on his back) sat at the foot of a mountain until an angel came and showed him a new word from God.
The devils goal is to deceive people, and I would say he is doing a fantastic job. Hatred is one of the results.
Hope that helps.

I think I see the point in your question. You don't really think the devil created religion, but the point is that it would make sense if the devil created religion because it's caused to much suffering in the world.

False religion definitely has. Only the true worshipers of God let Him guide their lives and refuse to be controlled by the world we live in.

wow, well i hate to say this but the truth is the christian religion.
the devil was based off of the pagan god lugh who was the god of fertility.
now the when the christian force was pushing and killing to make others belive in their ideals, they thought the pagan gods to be "eveil"
and well if you take the scariest looking example of what pagans worsipped you can turn it into the enemy and make a up a story to support the the belief that this god was an angel and he turned that way for disobeying "the lord" so he cast the angel "lucifer" (note the resemblance to the name) into the bowels of the earth.
