I have never grasped onto idea of atheism becaus of the afterlife concept. What do atheists believe happen when you die. Reincarnation? You cant just die, get burried, and rot until youre part of the earth again. It just doesn't make sense.
By the way, I dont hate anyone who has contradictory views, I am just wondering...

In fact, the conception (or perception) that life ceases with death is rather logical. Without a soul, our bodies disintegrate, and what was "you" remains only in the form of memories others have of you, which will inevitably get fewer and fewer.
It's rather stark because it says that we really do cease to exist over time. Strident athiests believe afterlife is a psychological construct of the human mind to make the reality of death less painful.

That's what happens... you just die. No afterlife. It doesn't make sense to you because you haven't looked at the big picture. You are born into consciousness and live your entire life in it. Since this is your only possible perspective you feel as if consciousness will continue forever. Unfortunately it's not true. Just as you were not aware and didn't exist before your birth, so too will you in death. Death is the end of everything to the individual, and i have no problems with that.

Nothing happens after death because there isn't anything left for anything to happen to. The concept of self or soul is just a mental product generated by neurological processes within the brain. Once dead, no more brain processes, no more self. Simple.

Why doesn't it make sense. it's exactly what happens, and clinging to the idea of afterlife or reincarnation is a beautiful nonsense aimed to reduce the fear of stopping, not being, at the cost of keeping one part of your brain shut.

Scientifically there is no such thing as a soul and our spirit is just the way our brain works with chemical reactions.

I'm afraid it does make sense, its just not what you're used to hearing.If Heaven makes you feel better, stick with it. if you get weirded out by the way you are told about heaven, like many of us have, drop it. God won't mind, he's got way bigger fish to fry.

I believe once your dead thats it mate...you become fertilizer and thats all there is, i dont worry about it coz if this is the case we not gonna know about it.
