like most other shellfish they are a filter feeder, meaning that when placed in freshwater, given 48 hours and they will filter any badness in them so they will be ok to eat. but it does not apply to them being infected by a virus, they will not be able to filter that out. if in doubt then just pay a little more for your lobster and buy it from a reputable supplier.

It all depends on whether the pollution is e-coli or mercury!
I would love to give you all kinds of info, websites and statistics but without knowing what kind of pollution or where you are trapping them I am unable to help.
If in doubt, do not eat them! Better safe than sorry.

I would not risk knowingly eating anything that came from polluted or semu-polluted waters. It is not worth the health risk.

Lobster, crab - in fact, all shellfish - are scavengers any way, and feed on unclean waste on the sea bottom.

hehe sorry, but that is kind of like asking if I would rather swim in a pool where many people have urinated in it, rather then in a clean pool with clean pure water.
