Hello,

Could anyone advise me to whom I should turn to with a pain in my back?
It is not exactly a slipped disc but sth less major (it is a needle like pain that eventually prevents me from walking). I have one leg shorter and my back has been under extra pressure because of that fact. I suffer from back pains from time to time and I know they are slovable. I just do not know the right person in London that would help me. I have already seen the osteopath in New Cross and a masseur in Greenwich and all they did was gettitg rid of the tension in my muscles but they have not solved my problem – my back is still bad and the muscles are getting tight again. I need a proper massage with a good dose of manipulation in my back involved. But I am afraid of going to the wrong person again (due to the fact that back manipulation in my specific condition is reguired it has to be a recommended back specialist, and, secondly, appointments themselves are expensive enouch for me – I do not want to waste my money on visiting random people). Please, recommend me a particular person that would do a massage in London all in its vicinity.
Thank you,
Anna

Even though I am not from London. I would suggest you find a good Chiropractor there, should be listed somewhere in phone book or Doctor guide. I worked for a Chiropractor for 8 years and saw a lot of people get wonderful results for problems such as yours. All Chiropractors are licensed, and I can assure you, they definitely know what they are doing. The majority of them, around here, anyway, take x-rays and give you a thorough exam before working on you. I have seen many cases where people have one leg shorter than the other and have much trouble walking or even getting out of bed, and in a couple of weeks it was amazing what difference there would be. A Chiropractor is so good for many things that people do not even realize, as all of our nerves, to every part of our body start in the spinal column, so it is only natural, that if you have a vertebrae out of place, it is pinching a nerve to some part or organ in your body, and causing it to malfunction in some way. My brother had asthma really bad and a Chiropractor is the only Doctor that ever helped him. He has very few occurances of asthma now. Also helps stomach problems, headaches, tingling sensation in arms or legs and many more things. I hope you can find a good Chiropractor there and get on the road to recovery. I can assure you, you will feel different after a few visits, if not after the very first one. Just remember to take it easy after each adjustment, for approx. and hour or two, as that will help the vertebrae to stay in place longer and each time you are adjusted by the Chiropractor it will help the vertebrae to hold longer each time. Good luck and feel better soon.

I cured my sciatica with this natural treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

You sound as if you have a combination of mechanical issues and trapped nerve problem. There is a lot available via a standard medical route. You ought to make an appointment with your GP who can evaluate the problem further and, if indicated, discuss with you some options which include 'drugs', physiotherapy, and/or referral to the local 'back clinic' Via the NHS, most of the treatments you need will be 'free', including the drugs if you do not pay for prescriptions.

I go to the chiropractor for this same problem; one leg being shorter than the other. After the chiropractor pops me back into shape, both legs are equal. I would really suggest going to a chiropractor. A lot of people say chiropractors are no good, but I say otherwise. Good luck. Hope you feel better.

Anna, I am sorry to hear about your condition.
I see that you are in London, UK. Try posting your inquiry on London section of craigslist.org website. Find a specific section on their website (e.g. services, etc). This could help you to get in touch with someone who can refer you a doctor.
Good luck!
