You can get a prescription for nicoteine inhalers from your doctor. It's just a little plastic stick that you put a cartridge for the nicoteine in and you use it like a cigarette when you get cravings. It works pretty well.

Instead of gum, what about hard candy? Carrot and celery sticks or some other kinds of healthy snack foods for when you feel that temptation. It is a good idea to find something to keep your hands busy. Rebuke the desire when it comes into your thoughts, I know it is hard, but it can be done!! It has been 1 year and two months since I have kicked the habit! Do not be in the prescence of other smokers, if you have never smoked in your home it will help. Change your habits, if you smoke while you are driving try a lollipop instead-they help!

Try hypnotism. It worked for a little while for a boss I had when I worked at a movie theater. She would eat popcorn whenever she got a nicotine craving. She went back to smoking at some point but it did help and had she had the willpower to keep it up could've stopped forever. I wouldn't use it as a permanant fix but as a way to at least get you to stop in the beginning ya know.

Have you thought about willpower? If you can't go cold turkey, try cutting down from say 20 cigarettes a day to 19 the next, 18 the next etc until you are down to 0?

Put the cigarettes down and use some will power! Nicotine should not rule your life. All these gimmicks out there may work for some people, but I say that it's all in your mind and the attitude that you put into quitting something that you should not have started in the first place. Peer pressure sucks, don't it?

Chew sunflower seeds and take up knitting to give your hands something to do. Make yourself a sweater for Christmas as a reward for quitting.

It's called human will power by means of "cold turkey"! And yes, you can do it because I did after 20 years of three packs a day!

Anyone that says they can't do it is just fooling themselves!
