Probably the best idea is to look at an old phone book. But is there an easier way? Possibly online, etc.

Yes. Use the "Census" for America. If not in the USA, I don't know.

Or there is Net Detecive.
But the internet is your best bet.
If you used to know where this person lived by address, you can always look into county court housing lists. They may have information if they ever sold a house. Same thing for land.

I dobt that it would have been achived, you might want to try to go to the local Librarry. or check in some olds basements around that area, either way good luck and best wishes.
