How does this make sense? I'm a mere human and I can think of far better ways we could be made. Eyes in the back of our heads, multiple arms to do more work, greater muscle density, tougher skin, much greater senses,... the list goes on.

So why is this God's image? Does God have a less than perfect form also? And for that matter, why does God only have one image, can't he be anything he wants? Do you think that he has an "original" form in some way (even though this implies that God has a beginning)?

Or is this yet another "truth" given in the bible that you really can't explain and have to just use blind faith?

Depends on your belief. Biblically, we are made in God's image. Since God is not flesh, then he must be talking about our attributes of personality.
Another theory is that we are a product of Alien intervention who have a human appearance. We were then created "in their image." Supposedly we were to be a slave race for mining operations of these outsiders, but then we rebeled. We were suppose to be destroyed with a great flood, but one outsider, a genetic scientist, who helped to create us, did'nt want to see his work destroyed and saved a few from destruction. This scientist helped to protect us, and eventually taught us the ways of civilization. Supposedly this first civilization were the Sumerians, in what is present day Iraq. From there we expanded. Interesting theory, no? If you want to know more, read the book, "The Gods Of Eden."

Greetings,
Were you well versed in the bible and searching the scriptures you would realize that when man fell from the garden he lost the image that God had given to him and was transformed into the image of a fallen and depraved creature and not what God originally created. Soyou should look in Genesis;5:3-And Adam lived an hundredand thirty years, and begat a son in HIS own likeness, after His image;and called his name Seth.

Human beings have both a biological nature and a spiritual nature. All living things which preceded us on earth had only a biological nature. But God breathed into human beings an immortal soul, moral capacity and free will, characteristics which before that point in time had belonged to God alone. Thus God gave human beings certain godlike characteristics, making us reflections of His own image and likeness, and enabling us to have eternal life, as He does.

You are thinking that there is a better way because you are looking at things in terms of how you yourself would be more convenienced.

Part of humility is accepting limitations, not pridefully seeking ways to tamper with God's handiwork--and thinking that you know better than God.

We are made in the image of God in that we have a spirit--that which transcends the limits of time and space. As for a body--God the Father doesn't have a body. So, you are misunderstanding "made in God's image." It is not talking about physicality at all.

Adam did not resemble God in the sense of God’s having flesh and blood. Scripture says that “God is a spirit” (John 4:24) and therefore exists without a body. However, Adam’s body did mirror the life of God, insofar as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death.

GOD is whatever HE needs or wants to be. mortals are made in HIS IMAGE but who really knows what GOD looks like as HE is everything. we don't know if this passage is even referring to the physical or the soul or the spirit. these are things which also need to be considered.

just because god is perfect does not automatically merit we be perfect--dont doubt every little detail

religion, specifically christianity is about having faith, and your relationship with god

none of that other stuff really matters

if we were all "perfect" what fun would that be?
there would be no reward in anything we accomplish if it were all handed to us

Wonder if god has a tail bone (coccyx), appendix and wears glasses. Also, does god use a heavenly bathroom? Why would he need a penis? Does he have nipples like us? Whatever for?

God is made to look like the inventor of God - man, or maybe woman.

Technically, all we know about god that far is that he creates, therefore we are creators.
The image isn't a physical reference.
