I confess to be ignorant of their practices but In the media portrayal and their own portrayal they seem to view ALL woman as unclean and treat them as chattel.Do they really believe that Allah made women so that the men could rule over them with hate and disrespect?

They do not treat their women like that. Yes, I'm sure there are some chauvinistic domineering Muslim guys; but you find those in all religions. It's just blown out of proportion on t.v. Women are spiritually equal to women, and unlike Christians, Muslims have never argued as to whether or not women even have souls (how degrading). But we have to look past these faults and not categorize a religion or group of people by the acts of a few. Hope I helped! :-D

They do treat their women like that. They are possessions. They can murder them if they want, its not even against the law. Its barbaric.

And as for the role of women biblically, the fact that women were not to be leaders in the church and that the man was to be head of her, is often used by feminists and more so by alot of Christian husbands. Its simply a role. No more or less important. Every person has a role and all work together for the whole. Thats like saying that your boss as work is more worthy in God's eyes than you are. Its not a matter of importance or equality in the eyes of God, its a matter of design for the way things were meant to work. A company cannot succeed if everyone was the equal boss. Each person contributes according to their job. So God was establishing this as a pattern. He also commanded husbands to CHERISH their wives, not be domineering over them.

Maybe you should read the Bible before you criticize other religions. Here are two verses from the Bible, OT and NT
How much disrespect does it show to women?

I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."--Genesis 3:16

In the New Testament, the bible decrees:

"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."--1 Tim. 2:11-14

Seems to be a variety of true Islams on offer so treatment of women probably depends on the version of the true Islam.

Doesn't the christian bible say women should not speak in church? The catholics still won't allow women in the clergy, nor do the mormons. Probably others as well.
