I can't imagine a life without God, even if I have tried.

How do people who don't have Jesus in their life manage to go on?

2006-09-23 06:38:12 · update #1

Not that there are other things to life, but without Jesus there would be no meaning to all the good things in life or the bad.

Why I need Him?
His the one who made me, the one who continually seeks me, the one who saved me.

The one who gives Himself totally to me.
No greater love.

A life without Jesus? Seems like a good portion of the world lives like this. You have the Muslims, the Buddists, the Shinto, the Jews, and many other sects that do not believe in Jesus's divinity. Can't say that they are "blank and boring."
If Jesus never existed, most likely there would have been another religion to take the place of Christianity. People will always need a belief to give them purpose here on Earth.
As for those that do not believe in any form of a Superior being, I feel they are the fools. They have no hope beyond this life. It's surprising that they don't just do whatever they want and get all that they can since we're all going to non-exist anyways, in their eyes that is. As the saying goes though, "you won't find any non-believers in a war zone trench."
Basically, when things get hard, everyone begins to pray.

No Jesus here, and not a boring or blank minute to be found. I think you have a very limited imagination, my dear.

I was a brainwashed little Christian for the first 20 years of my life, went to revivals, prayed for hours, witnessed, etc etc etc. Therefore, I can compare and I can tell you - Life is much much better now that I am aware of the actual origin of the Bible - the Jewish text is very influenced by Egyptian religion and somewhat by the Babylonians - the egyptian and babylonian myths are basically intact in the bible. The bible is full of out and out lies, like that the sun travels around the earth, the mustard seed is the smallest seed, and that the jews destroyed the cities they are described as destroying in the old testament. One city, Ai, was destroyed a thousand years before the jews even showed up, but the story goes that they did it after tricking people out of the city and slaughtering them on their way back in. (Why would you make up such a story about yourselves?????)

Again, if you can't imagine a life without God, you have a very limited imagination - and the religious 'leaders' are happy to spoon feed you and control you for their own interests. Thanks, citizen!

My life would be boring without Jesus in the fact it wouldn't give me an argument to keep going. Yet, maybe the peace and quiet would be nice with no Jesus.

I cannot imagine, either, life without G-d. But, Jesus was not G-d. He was a man who taught Judaism. He was a Rabbi. It was Paul, in his madness, who decided Jesus was the Messiah, and he spent his life pushing the concept. He must have been a very good actor----------he converted alot of people.

G-d is G-d. G-d is One.

Life without the oppurtunity to look towards our previous ascended soul masters, Jesus , buddha etc.......basically what your saying is wouldnt life be boring without faith. Jesus and God are to seperate entities neither is a man or a woman, both are an essence , an energy and a light........but Even still life would be boring if there were no questions to answer anymore......if we found out tomorrow we all formed from a single cell and evolution is all we have,............well it would suck but not because its bad, just because we have then answered the question to life...........whats next?

"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."
- Abraham Lincoln

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism."
- Albert Einstein

"I don’t believe in God. My god is patriotism. Teach a man to be a good citizen and you have solved the problem of life."
- Andrew Carnegie

"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies."
- Benjamin Franklin

"This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it."
- John Adams

"I can very well do without God both in my life and in my painting, but I cannot, suffering as I am, do without something which is greater than I am, which is my life, the power to create."
- Vincent Van Gogh

"Religions are all alike – founded upon fables and mythologies."
- Thomas Jefferson

"Religion is all bunk."
- Thomas Edison

No. If you absolutely need Jesus to give your life any meaning whatsoever, you made a mistake somewhere down the line.

I'm not so into the whole 'Love Jesus or he will smite you' thing, but I'm pretty happy. I find fulfillment in Nature and the Source where all life comes from.

nope, not at all! I know that this is my only chance at life, so I live each day to the fullest. I do not depend on a "god" to help me through my problems, I do it all myself. I am very, very happy- happier than I ever was as a Christian now that I am in control of my own life. carpe diem!

Easy, they find purpose in the rest of humanity rather than some guy who died thousands of years ago. Creating heaven on earth is a much more virtuous goal than simply waiting to get there one day.

Isn't that an insult to our Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Shintoist, Hindu, Animist, Pagan, Atheist, and other non-Christian brothers and sisters? I know many of each, and many of them lead lives that are incredible.

Please read Matthew 7:1-5: these are the words of the Jesus you purport to adore, a son of God who understood his own Christhood, and who sought to teach all children of God about the nature of their relationship with God.

Thank you for sharing, and my prayers are with you on your journey.
