well I think its non-living but potential life, kind of like a fertilized egg. It contains seeds, the fruit itself is just nourishment for those seeds. If it remains in the basket then it is dead. Put it in the ground and it germinates, then it is alive.

Give it to me, and its a snack!

It's a strange question. It's certainly not living, because it has been taken away from the tree, it's source of food, health and equilibrium. It is not dead, because it is not rotten, and since it is in a basket, it has probably been recently picked. I would say it is non-living, a passive object, in art it is called "dead nature".

That would depend on whether it was picked or fell from the tree. If it was picked it may still be alive however, if it fell from the tree it is considered dead. I hope that I have been of some help.

I think it would be dead. Which is why once you leave it for a few days, it begins to wilt and rot.

Living things dont do that, or shouldnt...lol

it's living. the cells are still reproducing, but since you cut it of from the main source of food, the cell will eventually cause it to wilt and rot.

i would think it would still be "alive' however, it would be dying since it's deprived of the tree's nourishment.
