...all my neighbours sem to have a space when they want. Do they have two tracks or am i missing an easy way to create a gap when needed.

Depending on the brand/manufacturer, you should be able to remove each slat individually - just beware the cords at the bottom that often keep the blinds together.
Maybe they have the kind that meet in the middle and just make the gap by opening them a little?

I have the same problem - some of them are not designed with a space. However, if you cut the string that connects the blinds excatly in the centre top and bottom you should be able to pull both ends back to allow you have a space in the middle.

just dont close them all the way down, i have them all over my house, how can you have a gap thats silly.

take out one of the blind slats. or unclip it at the bottom
