My hubby went through AIT and is now regular army, and we got our first sum earlier this year after he finished. Now, my question is, did you receive the rest of the bonus year to the date from the first time you received some of it, or is it year to the date of your enlistment??? Does anyone recall how the enlisment payments work??

When they decide to give it to you.

PS read the fine print in the contract.

As I understand the enticing part into enlisting into the Army as far as bonuses go. Yet, I feel bad that there are not any bonuses being offered to your son, or any other person at this time. In the long run, he will be able to sign up for a re enlistment bonus if he chooses to, and he will be afforded many opportunities down the road. On the other side. There have been many soldiers with several years of service that have not been offered as nearly as much money as some of the recruits that have not even gone off to basic yet. Heck, I say if we can afford to bail AIG, and the Automotive companies, I think we should be able to give bonuses to both new recruits, and existing ones just for our mere love for our country, and personal sacrifices.. We are the soldiers bail out? We are the ones along with many others that should be getting continued bonuses without any ending insight.

It'll depend on the details of the bonus agreement. Usually, you get half after completion of training. Then, a year later, one half of the remainder. A year later half of the remaining un-paid bonus, and so on. At least that's how it worked with my bonus. Other programs could easily have different pay schedules. Generally, an enlistment bonus is used as a "carrot on a string" to entice folks into a job which is either tough to qualify for, or unpopular, and lacking in volunteers. The schedule I described is set up to make it less attractive to get out of that occupation. (usually, you have to repay the bonus if you leave the specialty.)

it's supposed to be a year after the first payment, but they tend to forget about it.

probably going to be a year from the date you last got some.

I know that's how it works with the reenlistment bonus.
