I've been dieting and exercising for almost a month now and lost about 5 pounds, but for the past week my weight has been stuck at the same 195, even though I was REALLY dieting and exercising, more than I had been before. Two days ago I got pissed about it, and just went nuts...I hate cookies, chips, chicken wings, ARBYS...and not all of a sudden im down to 190. My diet wasn't taking the pounds off, so I starting eating a lot and I lost the weight then. Is this normal, is this something I should do? Diet hard, then eat hard?

I agree that your body was in starvation mode. It got hungry so it was eating off itself more or less to get nutrients thus stabilizing your weight. But when you binged, your body was able to get real nutrients and your metabolism sped back up. Regardless, this was a very unhealthy thing to do and you should talk to a nutrionist if you want to lose weight.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

In order to lose weight you need to fuel your body with the amount of calories it needs. It's good to be really strict with your diet then have one day a week where you eat more calories. Or you can stay low (like 1200-1300) calories every other day and on the alternate days go high on the calories (1600-1800+). This is called calorie cycling and it keeps your body from getting into one set pattern with your eating and it helps with the weight loss. Just keep it clean but don't totally cut out the foods you love. Allow yourself to have those foods once a week on a scheduled day. Keep up the good work.

NO THATS NOT A GOOD METHOD DONT DO IT
when you diet hard and exercise hard for a while you body adapts to that, 195 must be your ideal weight, remeber its not about pounds its about how much fat percent you have. When you went crazy on food your body didnt know how to react, so didnt put on any weight, but your body was confused so you dropped some, if you keep this up ur body will get used to the binge and ull start putting on weight

Trust me,there's a difference between starvation dieting and eating good food. When you did this bad dieting thing, you probably avoided all forms of sugar and fat that you could recognise. If you did a really bad thing and went with a vegitarian diet, you may have been starving your body of essential things like protein, vitamins and minerals.

When you got tired of it, you ate many things like chicken wings, which have lots of protein, breading, and some vitamins in the chicken. Cookies and chips have things like oil and extra calories. When you go on a starvation diet, your body hides any carbs or sugar you eat (they are in everything you eat) in fat cells, so you may actually gain weight or find it hard to lose weight.

My suggestion is NOT yoyo dieting, but healthy dieting- eat foods like fruit, meats, (mostly white meat) lots of veggies like celery, and a small amount of junkfood (like a small bag of chips or a cookie at lunch.)

Your metabolism adjusts to your eating habits. If you were only eating a little, your metabolism properly lowered so your body could survive on the minimal amount of calories. When you splurged (so to speak), your body quickly adjusted to the higher amount of calories. That will level off to though. It's best to maintain a healthy diet of 3 meals a day, and increase the intensity of your exercise each time you plateau.

Sounds like your body went into starvation mode. Not healthy. You may just have to increase what you're eating on your diet. Keep up the healthy food and exercise routine, it'll work.

store bought salad dressings can be packed with calories make your own vinaigrette and store it in a small spray bottle to coat your greens without over dressing them
