I think sky has been good for all sports, their programs start an hour or so before the fight or match and give you a good build up to it, you wont see the BBC or ITV doing this. They dedicate a full channel to it, people forget that when there was a big fight in america during the 70s and 80s we had to wait 24 hours after to see it. Now Frank Warren has moved to ITV and taken most of the boxers with him, have you not noticed that there has been less boxing on tv this year?

The worse thing that has happened to boxing has been their abandonment of network TV. I started following boxing in the late 70s just as I was beginning my teenage years. Boy was I spoiled!! I got to see fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello, Marvin Hagler, Larry Holmes, Aaron Pryor, Boom Boom Mancini, on CBS, NBC and ABC. Yes eventually they moved to PPV but by then you knew who they were and knew what you were getting. Now you look at a card on PPV and you say "Who?"

Think about the biggest fights in history: Frazier-Ali I, Duran-Leonard I, Leonard-Hearns I, Hagler-Hearns I. Would any of those fights have been as big as they were if we hadn't had the opportunity to see those fighters develop on free TV? No. Get boxing back on the networks.

Definitely not, I think the friday night boxing on Sky promotes the up and coming fighters on the undercard very well.
Watch out for Anthony Small in the next few years.

i totally agree with you,i am a big boxing fan and at one time could of told who had which belt at what weight now i can't keep up with the fights because it's all pay per view, even when itv managed to get a deal with warren i thought we would get all the ricky hatton fights but then ricky signs to a new promoter,i reckon frank warren knew this before signing with itv.now all we get is amir kahn every couple of weeks.

as a boxing fan i am truly disheartened to find that its popularity dived so much. it has now become nothing more than a moneymaking machine. but soon people will fail to pay for the privellege of watching and ratings will hit rock bottom. Boxing will become nothing :(

They've contributed to it. Any big fights they get, they show on PPV and even then there are a lot of fights that they don't get for some reason.
