First check for fleas, that is the most common reason a dog will scratch or bite it's back or any area it can reach. She could have sensitive skin. Spiders will bite dogs too and it only takes one little bite and after the dog starts biting and scratching it just gets worse. Some dogs get a fungus from the grass, check to see if there are any splotches of black spots on her skin. a cure for any of these is bleach. put some bleach in water and bathe the dog, then a few times aday wet a cloth with water and bleach and wipe the area she bites. The bleach won't burn her or cause any harm to her "don't get it in her eyes"
If in doubt, if you have a cut or a cold sore(fever blister) apply bleach to it, it doesn't hurt and it will heal fast! Be careful applying creams etc. the dog will lick it off and could make her sick! My dog is prone to get grass fungus and I put tinactin on the sores then I have a "baby onesee" ( a one piece t-shirt and diaper cover) that I put on him so he can't lick the cream off" tinactin is for athlete's foot" which is a fungus!
The pet stores carry a product called "Septiderm-V" it is an antibacterial lotion for dogs with itchy skin. I have found it works great costs $11.00 for a 16 oz. bottle. And to me it stinks to high heaven so I apply it and let it sit for a couple of hours then bathe the dog.

probably fleas, pull up the hair right above the hind quarter, pull towards dogs head. You will be able to see the fleas under the hair that are attatched to the skin. If it is fleas the best thing to buy is Frontline flea and tick serum. It lasts for a month or more and after three days your dog can still get a bath without washing away the product.

It could be fleas, ticks, mange or a skin condition. Check with vet. Some animals develop mental conditions and sadly they sometimes the cant be controlled. Keep a close watch on her to make sure she doesn't break the skin also get a lampshade collar from vets or try this one website for a more comfortable one http://www.sportssafety.co.uk/html/veterinary.htm
Hopefully that will break the habit. Goodluck ;-)

Have u been to a vet? It could be one of many things including flea allergy, fungal infection, ring worm or even liver trouble as that causes severe itching which makes a dog bite and scratch itself. Vets best thng really

could be a flea allergy or mange....whatever it is your dog really needs to get seen by a vet cos all these creams and powders might be making the whole thing worse.

She might have a skin fungus or fleas. Try applying a little olive oil to that spot for a week. If that doesn't work then take her to the vet and have her checked out.
