I'm not overweight, but my stamina is down to the dumps. I can do 1/4 of a mile without stopping, but I get really exhausted. I also have iron deficiency(anemia), so I was wondering how I can work up my game.

First of all, increase your iron levels - take supplements or eat foods rich in iron. Anemia makes you feel exhausted and it's hard to run when you feel so tired. Try some intervals to build up your distance. Run 200m and walk 200m or run the corners of the track and walk the straight aways. Continue this for 20-30 minutes. Alternate distance days with interval days. Simply jog slowly on your distance days and try to run for 30 minutes. As you feel less winded, increase your interval distance. Run a 400m and walk a 400m. You will eventually build up your stamina and endurance. Good luck.

Most runners run too hard because of "pain is gain". Don't do this. You need to jog and a steady pace, relax. And very important see a nutritionalist about your anemia. That's probably what's making you exausted. Remeber pain is only good for marines. Work up muscle mass and your heart, and take it from there. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Also weight training is a big help. Build up your arms and you will be amazed with the difference in your ability.

Take iron supplements first of all, and just run more and more often. It won't hurt to run as often as you feel like it. It only improves you running.
