When some one asks a question we try to help them with the answer if we have one that will be use full to the person who asked the question.I agree to a saying by a Great writer that Man created the Religion, the Religion created the God,then Man , Religion and the Gods divided the land and divided the minds.
Now what can we do ? In the name of My religion and your religion, My God and your God we fight with each other. We kill each other.
I think if so many things are written on the wall, the wall becomes unreadable and a time comes when the wall should be white-washed to look fresh. In the same way if minds can be cleaned off from all the divisions then things may be better..........another utopia.;-))

To answer on both sides. Anyone who comes to Yahoo Answers and tries to use these boards to convert someone to their belief system is insane. It also defies the purpose of Yahoo answers. This is a place to (hopefully) exchange information (not opinions) about a variety of topics. In doing that the questioner might be able to come up with an answer for themselves based on the collective insight (hopefully again) of the users of yahoo answers.

I'm an agnostic, so it would be sort of hypocritical for me to be on this forum trying to persuade people when I am undecided myself. Plus, I don't even know these people. I just answer and ask questions in this section so I can see how people think about this stuff. I think peoples' faith or lack thereof has a really big impact on their personality.

Yes, most of us are a certain faith because we were born in it. I am a Muslim and how ever much people point their fingers, I like it. I just found out that there are about over 1 billion atheists and agnostics.

Don't think anyone /really/ expects to win converts for whatever side they're on, but we all like to be validated, and seeing other people agree with our PoV gives us the validation we so desire.
Besides which, actual real debate (as opposed to the bickering and childishness) is fun no matter what you believe. :)

We can influence the sitters on the fence to one side or the other. And we can try to get people to think about what they believe or don't believe. And besides, it's fun!
