When I was really young I got braces, and my gosh they hurt me so bad!
So, I stuck to foods like this for about a week until I started feeling better:
* Soup
* Milkshakes
* Ice Cream
* Juice
* Smoothies
* Bread
* Soft Bean and Cheese Burritos
* French Toast
* Pancakes
* Rice
* Mashed Potatoes

Besides the other good answers, try some pudding. I know it hurts, and it will every time they get adjusted. Stay away from crunchy or chunky foods. You really don't want to have to pick cottage cheese out of them!
When you get acclimated to them (won't take too long) you can have something I think were called Poppitees. It's sort of like popcorn, but not as hard and no kernels to get stuck. My orthodontist told me that when he banned me from my beloved Doritos! They're really not bad!

try to eat soft foods ,,and don t try to take big bites,,it might break ur braces and will hurt u so much ..try to eat bread or any food after u break it into small pieces..avoid chewing gums,,caramel sweets,all sticky food which might be hard to chew it ,,u just have to change a lot of your eating habits also try to wash ur teeth after each meal this is very important as the food also might accumulate on both sides .

My advise:
EAT SOFT FOOD, I MEAN, LIKE PASTA, SMASHED POTATOES, CUTTED FRUITS (DON'T TRY TO EAT AN APPLE, YOU'LL FEEL THAT YOUR FRONT TEETH WILL FELL!!!), SOUPS. AND TRY TO MASH EVERYTHING WITH YOUR FORK BEFORE EATING...
VEGETABLES, AND TRY TO CUT EVERYTHING IN VERY SMALL PIECES, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHEW TO MUCH.
FOR DESSERT, ICE CREAM, CHEESE CAKE, BUT NOT THE CUSTARD.
AND TAKE AN ADVIL...
ANOTHER THING, BUY A CHEESE THAT HAS WAX (GOUDA), AND PUT SMALL PIECES OF WAX WHERE THE BRACES ARE BOTHERING YOU.
THE KEY IS TO EAT THINGS WHERE YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHEW...
IN A COUPLE OF DAYS YOU'LL BE FINE!,
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

soup (more like broths - you dont want to get things stuck in between them right away if you are still in pain to have to clean them....when you are more comfortable to be flossing after the adjustment...go for the rest of the food groups), ice cream, milkshakes...anything that you can sip with a straw.

Mushy....think mushy. Try mashed potatos, soups, applesauce and smoothies. If you got clear braces, stay away from blueberry smoothies....they'll stain your bands.

Applesauce, mashed potatoes, Icee slushes, ice cream, pudding (basically things that will not need to be chewed much as your mouth will be sore).
