Why can’t we choose our own parents???
Perhaps, because when we are born, we are too young to choose anything !
I guess you weren’t after an obvious answer though !!!
There isn’t anything unusual about parents and their kids not agreeing with each other.
It seems to be that once the kids get to a certain age, they think they know everything, and they aren’t going to agree with their parents about anything…
Perhaps you are at that age !
You don’t have to agree with your parents.
It wouldn’t hurt you to respect them though !!!
See how you feel when you are older, and if you decide you don’t want them to be your parents… divorce them !
In the meantime, be grateful for what you’ve got !!!

Why can't our kids be the kind, loving, respectful children we raised them to be??
It's called... you're growing up and you have your own ideals and expectations which are different than your parents. It's perfectly natural and everyone goes through that.
As cliche as this may sound, I really didn't get it until I had kids of my own. I've finally realized that all I can do is give them the tools they need to manage in life and hopefully make the right decisions for themselves. I won't always agree with their views or their decisions but they have to make their own mistakes and learn from them in order to become adults. It doesn't mean I don't want to keep trying to protect them or love them any less!

You are never going to agree with your parents all the time. What you need to do however is be able to listen to and respect them. Most of the time, believe it or not, parents have very real reasons for what they do/don't do. Or let you do or not. Sometimes fear of what can happen to you guides their decisions, sometimes it is personal experience, sometimes it is gut instinct. And sometimes they just flat out don't want you to do/go to whatever...or wear whatever. They don't have to explain themselves, or justify their decision. That's the parent power. I suggest if you are having a problem with some decision you talk to them...make sure you are ALL calm, and that you have valid reasons for doing whatever if you want to to do. Plead your case, DO NOT YELL, WHINE, MOAN, or say "But Susy's parents...." and you MIGHT change their mind....then again you might not. But if they don't you can ask why not so you can better understand. It takes alot of heart to be a good parent and a good kid...and alot of work. Sometimes are easier than others, but as long as you can talk you can get through anything. Be gratefull your parents care...that's alot more than alot of people have....

Are you crazy? You want to pick your own parents? Your parents should be saying why can't we pick our own kids.

Always choose from what you can and never bother yourself with what you can not do. You can choose to lift your leg but you cannot lift both your legs unless you are destined to fall.
