Cheap balls, because you're going to lose a lot of them!
Seriously, balls are made to standards these days so the subtle differences in the various brands and styles won't be a factor for a beginner. Once you develop true feel and technique then shop for the one that fits your game best!

Any 2-piece ball. They are made for beginners with slower swing speeds and cost less, as you will lose many as a beginner. Consumer Reports Magazine did a report on this subject a few months back.

Distance golf balls like Pinnacle are good. They can handle a beating and they are cheaper

I would recommend the Nike MOJO - it is a very low spin ball so if you mishit the ball, it has much less side spin and the consequences are much less severe

A solid 2-piece ball is best, it is more durable and is designed for distance not feel on greens. you can find alot of cheap used balls out there on ebay or knetgolf.com has good deals on used balls. I use pinnicle expception myself....
