most of the infectious diseases caused by bacteria and viruses are classified by vomiting and diarrhoea. cholera, typhoid, ebola, any one of the hamorrhagic fevers, ebola, marburg, rotavirus, adenovirus, astrovirus, norwalk, gastroenteritis caused by the clostridium spp, campylobacter jejeni, shigella, klebsiella, citrobacter, enterobacter and the list goes on... u are most probably referring to cholera and typhoid, but its only fatal if untreated. the only thing these patients need are ORS and no other meds.

Cholera leads to profuse diarrhea and vomiting and is often fatal, due to dehydration. In cholera, fever is low grade and it is self- limited, lasting only for few days. However, antibiotics are recommended such as tetracycline, vibramycin, chloramphenicol, nalidixic acid or erythromycin. The patient must be kept well hydrated.
