I don't get it myself. I'm not a Christian, but I respect it--and every other--religion. I *like* hearing about other people's religions--I find it interesting, and it says a lot about a person.

first you ask "what's your view?" and then say "Just so you know; I already know what those of you who don't believe in the Lord will say, so don't even bother!"
hehehe! just look at the idiocy of that and you won't have to wonder anymore why some people feel the desire to put the likes of you down. talk about low self esteem. religious fundies like you apparently need to feel "special", apparently need to feel you have a monopoly on God and Truth to feel good about yourselves, need to believe that "heaven" is a Christian exclusivity club in which the Christian only membership is rewarded for arrogance, ignorance and bigotry. you people are a hoot! hehehehehe!

GOOD QUESTION. I have always pondered this myself. I am a Christian and I LOVE hearing others views and expanding upon mine. Most of my friends are atheists/agnostics and they respect me as a Christian, but do not respect the religion. I believe it is out of resentment for the idiots who constantly shove their views down others throats. I myself am surprised at how dumb some people are. Also, they see the hypocrisy/self contradictions of others yet are blind to their own. My friends think most religious people are idiots and idiocy is certainly not to be respected. I think they dont get the part where MOST people are idiots, therefore most religious people would have to be as well, by default. I find it ironic their distaste of the religious comes from their narrow mindedness when they themselves are so narrow minded.

Inadequacy. If I make you smaller I look bigger. People that do that truly do have a very limited faith in anything outside themselves. In action they are playing god themselves
p.s......Just so you know; I already know what those of you who don't believe in the Lord will say, so don't even bother!.....!! .............statements like this show that you really have no business being on yahoo answers. If you really had the answers you wanted ...why on earth would you ask a question?

Well, I think that if you believe in your religion with all your heart. You believe it is "right" -- then you should believe it is the way, the only way. If you believe in your God, but you are "open" to other religions, or you think they too can be right, then do you really believe in your God with all your heart?
That being said, I don't think it is right to make fun, or put people down. I am a Christian, and I have friends and even relatives that are Jewish, and other faiths. Even Athiests. We have just decided to agree to disagree. I am not a "Bible Thumper", so I can only hope they see Christ in my, my ways, my actions and my life. I continue to pray for them, that they will see the right way.
I don't think I know a lot of people making fun of people and their beliefs. But, that may be my age. As Christians, I think we are called to love everyone, as Christ did. Not to judge, that is reserved for God.

these people are having a problem in accepting others rights to practice free will. the main problem in my opinion is there are plenty out there who still believe their way is the only way and are not receptive to the fact GOD is to big to be in one place and there are more than one way to get where one is going. we all need to respect others opinions if we want our opinions respected in return.

They are looking for a REASON to believe. They need to see logically why it is foolishness to NOT believe.
Ecclesiastes 2:13
Wisdom is of more value than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness.
