You don't. But time will help you manage. And eventually, the next love in line emerges to help heal.

Remember why it didn't work out (especially if he hurt you). It's nice to remember the good times, but know that those times are over. It just takes time to get over someone, especially your first love. Find something else to focus on to keep your mind off him. That could be anything from a new hobby or even a new guy. It's nice to have someone to admire from afar for a little while. Don't rush into a new relationship right away though.
Someone else said not to listen to any sad love songs, but after I left my boyfriend of four years, I spent a lot of time listening to Brian McKnight's albums, and believe it or not, it really helped with the healing process.
Good luck and feel better. :)

Like the song says..."the first cut is the deepest"
It takes time and finding someone who is just as special or better. You'll never really forget your first love, but as time progresses it will get easier to get on with yur life. My first romance was over twenty years ago, but I still think about her and she even pops up in my dreams once in awhile, but I've learned to keep on truckin'

If you guys separated although there was no problem in the relationship at all...no fights etc....but for example because he/she had to leave you for other reasons- like go home and finish education continents away,....then you will never forget her/him.
This happened to us ..... my first love and I had to separate, because I wasn't even finish with high school, yet. I met other people....but I always compared them with my first love. When he contacted me again after six years....and we connected like in the past, we made a decision everyone thought was crazy....we decided to marry!
If you can't forget your first love for all the wrong reasons....obsession for example...then you need to try and discipline yourself or see a therapist, who will help you move on....or go to the army...lol. The training is so hard that you will learn self discipline in no time. In fact my husband went into the army for this very reason...he was heart broken after a disappointing first love relationship....if not for that decision we would never have met. C'est la vie!!!

You never quite get over the first love. I know I haven't and it has been 26 years. They always hold a special place in your heart.

I'm afarid at first it seems like you never will.
But then time goes on - I moved out of home, cut my hair, changed jobs, moved in with a wild friend, and had the time of my life!
You always will wonder though what they are doing - it's sad but true.

Depends....
First, have you really found your first love yet?
If not, then how can you get over it?
Make sense?
